God hates lies because He doesn’t want His children deceived. Nor does God want His children to deceive anyone. Throughout scripture, God warns His children against deceivers, the tricksters who play with words, those who appeal to your feelings and twist the scriptures. We must Be on Guard always to protect yourself from being deceived. “See that no one deceives you” Matthew 24:4. Don’t believe everything you hear.
Continuing where we left off last week in is lying a sin, now lets take a look at lies that can run throughout a lifetime and beyond. People use lies and deceit to build their version of a situation or image over and against the truth. When you do that you are saying you don’t trust God’s plan, and your plan is better. Then you walking in your spirit of selfishness, not in the spirit of our Lord. A christian doing that risks saddening the Holy Spirit in them Ephesians 4:30.
Creating a Mountain of Lies
You tell one lie, and it leads to another lie to enhance and cover; then another lie. It’s no longer one lie, but an enormous bunch of lies. A mountain of lies begins with the first lie and continues until you have built a mountain of lies. You are creating your own reality, following your own plan, creating your own image; Instead of being conformed to the image God has planned for you Romans 12:2. That’s what Satan’s operation plan looks like; he rejected God’s plan to follow his own design. Lying is the work of the devil. When you lie, you are doing the devil’s work and deceiving all who hear you.
Believing your own lies creates a mountain where the only way down, back to speaking the truth, will take spiritual strength and courage. Until then, you are a slave. A slave to the lie and the father of lies. The lie must be maintained; so you tell more lies to more people, putting on heavier chains. Creating a cycle that leads you to believe your own lies, then you are in the hands of the devil. At first you tell a little lie, then another and another to maintain the deception ending in death James 1:14-15. That’s a stronghold you allow in your life when you tell lies. It begins subtle and small, but if unchecked, it grows and multiplies into more deception. God hates the lie, any lie. Every lie you tell goes against the plans of God for you.
Generational Lies
Family lies: the lies told within families are many. They always involve a coverup of truth, often covering up the true character or actions of a family member(s), “exchanging evil as good” Isaiah 5:20. Creating a pattern of thought that is passed through the family. Lies are of the devil and when lies are part of normal life; demonic influence will be there too.
Perhaps you, like me, have seen or experienced for yourself, a family of liars, and thieves, or addictions, or mental disease, or poverty, dysfunction passed down from generation to generation. “God is not mocked; you will reap what you sow” Galatians 6:7. This results from generational stinking thinking and believing the family lies; a generational curse perpetuated by demonic influence, also called familiar spirits. If unchecked, unexposed and believed the lie will continue and grow, ending in death; first spiritual then physical death. The decisions you make will make or break the generational curse. Tell the truth, truth trumps lies. What matters is the decisions you make, and whether you will break the generational curse or perpetuate it.
Commit your thoughts to the truth of God’s word and you will both speak and stand for truth Colossians 3:2. Believers who are truth tellers don’t focus on speaking truth, but they have a mind set on the things of God, and seek to please Him Phillipians 4:8. Meditate and ponder the things of God. As the end of the world draws near, standing in truth will identify you as a child of God, in a fallen world. Below are only a few of the many verses on the tremendous importance for believers to speak and stand for truth. Meditate on them and stand for truth.
Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. (Psalms 86:11)
Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding. (Proverbs 23:23)
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. (Matthew 5:37)

Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged (Romans 3:4)

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Phillipians 4:8)
