Do you believe that once a person is saved, you are always saved? If you have received the Holy Spirit after you put your faith in Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection then the answer is YES 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Ephesians 1:13. When folks believe and trust in the gospel of Jesus Christ they begin a personal relationship with God. They are saved forever! It’s a matter of the heart, yours.
The half truths teachers of hyper-grace will often lead with the question. Do you believe in once saved always saved? Then they will go on to tell you all your sins are forgiven and everyone sins. They eventually will say sin is okay. Sin is never good. These folks are not promoting the whole gospel of Christ but only the parts. That is how Satan deceived Eve.
Salvation
I want you to understand, our salvation is more than just walking down an aisle or joining a church or saying a prayer; Salvation is an act of God. It is more than empty words on our part. I heard one presidential candidate when asked if she was a Christian; she replied her daddy was a preacher. Her response was worthless in terms of her salvation.
When we believe with the heart that Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead for you as payment for your sins giving us eternal life (Ephesians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4). And eternal life is just that, forever.
Salvation is a gift of mercy authorized by the Supreme God who washes and renews us by the Holy Spirit making us born-again (John 3:3, Titus 3:5). The Spirit causes believers to walk obediently to the Word of God (Ezekiel 36:26–27; James 2:26). There are plenty of scriptures that supports the believers eternal salvation:
John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nor will any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. My Father and I are one.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Ephesians 1:13-14 “In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.”
Believe with the Heart, Confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord
John 3:15 “That whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life”
John 6:50-51 “This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
Romans 8:30 “those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”
Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”
John 14:17 “The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”
Salvation is a Gift for Faith in Christ
Romans 8:35-37 “Who shall separate us from the love of God? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
If you could lose it, then it was never “eternal or forever”. If you could lose your salvation, the promises of eternal life would not be true. The power of creation protects our salvation status in heaven. When a believer reads or hears the words of God his born-again spirit resonates in agreement with the Spirit of God’s words. When believers absorb the word as if it was nourishing food from God into their souls we are identifying with Christ. God chose the believer before the foundation of the world to be His sons Ephesians 1:4. We are not saved by anything we’ve done. We are not saved by our works, but were born again to do good works.
Everyone who holds the faith of Jesus is going to heaven when they leave this world. If you want evidence you only have to look to 2 Peter 1:5-10. Peter says to make your salvation certain by growing the these:
